TrainingMarine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) is a Registered Training Organisation and qualified unit trainers conduct induction, radio and crew training in house, to MRQ and Australian Maritime Safety Authority standards.
Radio training is conducted to initial qualification level only, while crew training is conducted at all levels through to Coxswain.
Individual and collective crew training is a major part of unit activities, accounting for around 40% of vessel hours.
We also participate in regional Search and Rescue exercises with adjoining MRQ units, designed to test our response and standard of training.
Our rescue vessel crews regularly train with other Bundaberg based rescue organisations, including the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter Rescue 522.
