We operate a designated Limited Coastal Radio Station at our Burnett Heads base, which is part of a 24/7 marine radio safety network and monitor all distress and EPIRB frequencies including VHF channels 16, 67, 22, 80, and 81; MF/HF channels 2524, 4125 and 6215, 121.5MHz EPIRB and UHF emergency bands. VHF repeater stations at Mount Watalgan, Sandy Cape and the Hummock provide an indicative coverage as shown.
The radio room is staffed by trained Radio Operators from 0600 to 1800 hours daily, seven days a week and during after hours’ activations.
The latest local marine weather forecasts issued by the Bureau of Meteorology are broadcast at 0815 and 1615 hours daily on Channel 67. Weather and navigational warnings are issued on receipt.
