(Australian Maritime Safety Authority)
Qualified Maritime Radio Operators man our radio room between 06:00 and 18:00, 365 days a year as part of the Australian Maritime Safety Listening Watch.
Our Radio Operators are of vital importance in identifying, logging, and coordinating the initial response to all calls for assistance in the Area of Operations.
This includes liaising with the Queensland Water Police, Australian Border Force, AMSA, and adjoining Marine Rescue Groups,
Marine Rescue Hervey Bay to the south and Marine Rescue Round Hill to the north, when required.
Under the instructions of the Duty Skipper, the Radio Operator is tasked with organising the Active Crew call out
to cover the expertise required to respond to the parameters of the Marine Rescue Bundaberg Activation.
As well, our RO’s are responsible for the logging on, monitoring the safe passage of, and logging off of vessels operating in the VMR Bundaberg area of operations.
Marine Rescue Bundaberg also offers fully accredited training and examination to third parties to meet,
and exceed, the AMSA’s requirements for the following Maritime Radio Operator Licences.
